Every person on any TV show and every where I went I saw people wearing a red poppy flower on thier jacket or shirt so I did some research to figure out what it was for.

Remembrance Day – also known as Poppy Day, Armistice Day (the event it commemorates) or Veterans Day – is a day to commemorate the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and of civilians in times of war, specifically since the First World War. It is observed on 11 November to recall the end of World War I on that date in 1918.

In the United Kingdom, although two minutes of silence is observed on 11 November itself, the main observance is on the second Sunday of November, Remembrance Sunday. Typically, poppy wreaths are laid by representatives of the Crown, the armed forces, and local civic leaders, as well as by local organizations.

Today was my third day of photography class! It was a good day. I learned all types of things on my camera like over exposing, under exposing, focus lengths, selective metering, and flash!! We did some practice shots with half lighting and these are the pictures that I took in the studio!

The next thing that we practiced in the studio was silhouettes. This was really neat to me and can't wait to take some of my friends and family. So here are a couple of the pictures that I took while in the studio.

I learned so much from my class... and now I just need to practice and take some pictures!!!

So today I went to a huge shopping center in London with a girl from my photography class. It was a really good time. While we were there she told me I needed to try these cupcakes! I had the best cupcake ever! It was called Banoffee.. a mix of banana and toffee. It was probably the best combination for a cupcake ever!

Today it has been raining so Devin and I have been catching up on our school work! I was taking a break and started watching a show on Operation Smile! I think this is such a great program!! I want to do this and think that it would be amazing to be apart of something like this. I am going to do some more research and see what I can find out!!

Today Devin and I slept in!! When we got up we decided to go to a new market! We went to Camden Market. This was by far the strangest market we have been to yet.
Camden Lock Market, by the canal, was the original craft market, established in 1974, but now has a much wider spectrum of goods on sale. Both this and the ever popular Camden Stables Market - centre of the alternative fashion scene, Camden (Buck Street) Market and Inverness Street Market - which thrived on local trade long before tourists discovered Camden, are all open, at least in parts, every day, making the area well worth a mid-week visit. It is the fourth most popular visitor attraction in London, attracting approximately 100,000 people each weekend.
I had some great food and Devin got a cute new t-shirt!!

Today was my second photography class... technically this was my first class due to the instructor not showing up the first day! It wend really good... I am totally amazed with the amount of things that the camera can do. We learned about shutter speed, aperture, and ISO!! So much for one picture! I have homework.. so I hope I can figure out some cool pictures to take to show in front of the entire class!!

This pictures shows how the aperture (depth of field) is used. This pictures shows a shallow depth of field where the water is in focus and the back ground is blurry! This is my instructor bye the way.

This picture is demonstrating shutter speed. This picture is showing a slow shutter speed, you can see this because the water is blurry while it is in motion. This is the technique that they use to take a picture of cars at night where they red lights trail behind the cars! I will attempt this soon I hope!!

This picture shows a fast shutter speed. You can see this because the water is in clear focus. This is the type of speeds that would be used in sports photography or young kids running around!!
I will post my homework pics when they are done! I had added a few of my pics that I showed in the class!

Today I went to another market! I was looking online for a cupcake decorating class and so I have been going to different markets to see the booths and try out the cupcakes! This one was called Crumbs and Dollies. I was excited to see the market and see what was going on. It is Covet Garden Market. I got there and there were quite a bit of tourists, street performers, and tons of things to look at. I walked around all the food stalls and looked for my cupcake! I found it and got me a chocolate cupcake with brown and white cow sprinkles on the top. I went and sat down to eat my cupcake and watch some street performers. I took one bite of the cupcake and could not eat anymore!! It tasted like I was eating coffee grounds... it was terrible.... no bueno.... I threw it away. Found me a coke zero and walked around!

So today I woke up and was excited to start my photography class! I got up and took the twenty minute tube ride to the Zoom In office. I got there and a volunteer was checking people in and giving a handout to everyone, she did not see my name on the list. I was thinking nice, I am not on the list I am going to come all this way and have to go home.... but no. The instructor never showed up!!! We all left and many of the other women were so mad. So I came home and decided to go to the market!. I went to Borough Market near the London Bridge!! I had a great class of fresh juice of the day, tasted many types of cheeses, and bought what was supposed to be the "Ultra Chocolate Brownie." The brownie was not that great but at least I can say I tried. It was said that in the morning the stack of brownies is really high, several times the height of my picture! The flowers were amazing and the smells were fabulous. Borough Market's surrounding Victorian architecture has proved a popular set for British films such as Bridget Jones' Diary and Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels.

Right down the street from our flat there is the Brunswick Market. This has everything from fresh fruit and veg, nuts, fresh food and some fresh bakery items! There is a little place called Peggy's Cupcakes! I had wanted to take a decorating class at this bakery but it ended up being kind of expensive and not in my budget! So I went and to try a cupcake and hoped that it was not any good.... but it was amazing. I got a strawbery one! The cupcake part tasted more like a muffin not too sweet, and the icing was amazing with bits of strawberry in it! It was so good!!

So today we had to run to the grocery store to get a few things! I was looking for baggies and found something strange, self seal ice cube bags. I thought I better try this. If you don't know it is rare to go to anywhere in London to get something to drink and get some ice with your drink. There is a few places that are guaranteed a glass of ice with your drink... Subway - they have fountain drink.. very strange for Europe and then my favorite... Bulmers - a cider drink from the pub! I would like to have my ice water at night... and with little room for a bag of ice in the tiny freezer I thought this was worth a try! So here are the pics of trying the ice bags out! I sent one of these to my dad so he could try it out and he thought it was pretty neat.

First you have to fill it with water, there is a small slit in the top of the bag.

Then you gently turn it upside down to seal the bag.

Then a few hours later you have ICE!! Then to get the ice out you just push it through like you were pushing out a medicine from a pill pack! It's brilliant!!

Happy Late Birthday Devin! Tonight we went to NBA London Live 2009 at the O2!! It was a really good time. For Devin's birthday I got us tickets to the Chicago Bulls and the Utah Jazz game. We got to the O2, got a Stella and a hotdog and were ready for some basketball! I could not help but notice that the entire crowd clapped for anyone that scored. They did not care who scored... they clapped. The other thing that was funny to me was at a game in OKC the wave might make it half way around the arena but not at the O2.. I am not going to lie the wave probably went around for a good five minutes or so. It was amazing! I had my new camera and got the last minute shot on tape! Chicago wins by one! Devin posted it on YouTube: Link ENJOY!!

Devin likes to feed the pigeons and squirrels that come to the garden outside our flat! He feeds them seeds and fruit. There is one squirrel that comes regularly and she has started to eat on the windowsill and now comes inside to have a little snack. She gets the seeds and sits on the windowsill and then goes back in some more!! She has little footprints all over the wall.. Devin will have to clean that soon!! Here are some pictures so you can see!!
