We got up this morning and I went and ate the cold buffet breakfast. It had all types of meats, cheese, yogurt, and breads. This is moms favorite breakfast I think!!
Then we left the hotel to go and figure out where our walking tour started. We made it and we ended up being the only people on the tour. It was like we had our own personal tour guide!!
We started on the Charles Bridge which was built in 1357 by Czech King Charles IV with huge towers on both ends. There were numerous baroque statues on this bridge and one of them everyone touched as they walked by. It was said to be a good luck charm to touch it. Then we head towards the Prague Castle, but before we go to the castle we stop by the castle Gardens. The garden was filled with flowers and many famous trees that have been there for many many years. This garden was partly destroyed during a war (can’t remember what war it was) due to the soldiers using it as a practice field. While in the gardens there was a “Birds of Prey” show that helped with endangered birds. Devin got to hold a Golden Eagle, her name was Alex and weighed around 15 pounds.
Finally we made it to the Castle of Prague. It was huge and had over 800 room. We walked around the square and then walked into Old Town Square. This is the oldest square in Prague and it overlooks the 14th - 16th century Old Town Hall with a gothic tower and a horologue (a clock). The horologue is the 14th - 16th Tyn church and the baroque St. Nicholas church. The clock was so old that there was two different parts to the clock because during the time it was built they did not know how to put the hour and the minute hands on the same clock.
Prague is known as "the city of 100 towers" and this is true there are over 300 towers in the city. We then went to lunch at a restaurant called Lupe Fiasco - and no this is not the rappers restaurant it is a name they ripped off of him and then based the menu and pictures on him. Very strange.
Tonight we went on a dinner cruise!! This was the best ever. We boarded the boat with a welcomed with a shot of some type of mint liquor. We went and sat on the roof-top of the boat and ordered a bottle of wine. There was live music and a good food. We floated up and down the Vltava river for three hours. We had views of the Prague Castle, St. Nicholas Church and the Petrin Tower. We went under the Charles Bridge. It was amazing!!!
My camera would not take very good night pics so the best I can do I will post.
After the cruise we walked home and packed and got ready for our early train the next morning!!
