Today we got up early to make the train before seven! We are headed to Berlin, Germany. I would love to go back to Berlin at some point in our trip! Hope it will work out! We looked at our tickets and it said our last train was in second class so we went to see if we could change them during our lay-over in Berlin. We got them changed... and it was a good thing because that was a very long train ride and we got a little room all to ourselves and we got so much needed R & R!! We walked around the train station for awhile before going to our platform.. this was the biggest train station we had been to, so many stores and places to eat. In one of the stores it was selling pieces of the Berlin wall.. not sure if it was real but it looked cool.
We got on our train and we got free drinks and snacks! We had heard that the German trains were the best, and this was correct!
Devin worked on his final and I finished my book on this train.... o how I wish I had another book to read!!
So we know that we will have to cross some water at some point to get to Copenhagen and we are not sure how this is going to work. We arrive a the last train station and they announce that they will drive the train onto a ferry and they we will all have to get off the train and go on the upper decks of the ferry while we cross the Baltic Sea. This was incredible... they just put a train on a ferry!! We went on the ferry and it was like a mall, places to eat and places to shop. We got some food and then went to see the view from the deck! Devin fed a seagull french fries! We then got back on the train and the train drove off the ferry!! Very fun experience!!
We arrived in Copenhagen, Denmark around eleven tonight. We decided since it was so late that we would take a taxi to our hotel. We flagged one down, it was a Mercedes taxi! That is what most of the taxis are in Europe. So we get to our hotel and pay the driver and walk inside. We get to the reception desk and they say they have overbooked and they are calling for a taxi to take us to another hotel in the city. We were mad... grrr!! We get to our new hotel and it is actually closer to the city so that was a plus!! We then were told that we had to downgrade our room, this made us frustrated again!! Grrr... at this point we just want to get into a room and go to sleep. So they said they will compensate us for our changes.
We take the lift to our room on the fifth floor and we walk in and..... it is tiny!! The name of the hotel is CabInn... so it all looks like a boat cabins!! Ha Ha... I thought it is funny too!! There are two bunk beds and a trundle bed under one of the bottom bunks. The bathroom is so small.
We open the window to cool off the room brush our teeth and go to bed.
